Merano is a wonderful city with lots of opportunities for fine walks - easy up to challenging. The environment is Mediterranean beautiful with lots of nice flowers everywhere and breath-taking views to the mountains around Merano.
Especially beautiful is a trip to the gardens of Castle Trautmannsdorf - which we visited already the second time.
Even on Sundays it was easy to buy food in open supermarkets for breakfast. In the evening it easy to find beautiful and stylish restaurants with excellent kitchen.
We also enjoyed our ride to Village Tyrol and the trip up to Hochmuth.

Merano was great, however it was marred by our accommodation which was underneath another apartment undergoing constant noisy renovations, and we had to check out two days early with no refund from our unhospitable host.

The tourist season in the city is mainly between April and November, so some restaurants/bars are open for limited time, but this is specific to the city as a whole. But still there are a huge number of stores that are open and having sales.
The city is very charming and beautifully situated. Typical for rest and light physical activity.

Merano is an amazing place with an incredible Spa, especially if you take advantage of the sauna area. Countless good restaurants available everywhere you look. The botanical garden at Trauttmansdorff is well worth a visit; allow enough time to enjoy it properly. Meran2000 is a must do for outdoorsy people. It's a bit upscale. Lots of fancy shops and stores. You can go swimming in the river upstream aways there's a swimming hole that can be seen from the Torre delle Polveri. Go to the Forst Biergarten restaurant. It was so good I ate there three times.
The place exceeded our family's expectations and I think pictures don't fully show how nice, clean, new this apartment is. The place is really spacious, warm and quiet. The communication with the host was excellent and she was replying straight away to any queries we were having. Location is quite convenient too within walking distance to Merano city centre. We highly recommend this place especially for families with kids.
This is a lovely well appointed apartment conveniently located about a 5 minute walk to the Old Town and River walk.
It is spacious, light and comfortable. There's a parking space out the back door. The owner came to greet us once we arrived and was extremely helpful about restaurants, good hikes in town and in the mountains. There are lots of maps and books in the apartment which were very useful.
Everything was just perfect: the clear and detailed explanations of the owner how to get to the apartment, how to check-in and the possibility to park a small car. Location is amazing – in the heart of the city. The room itself and the shared bathroom and kitchen were clean and well equiped. In our view this appartment offers an excellent price-quality ratio for Merano.
Nice and clean room with a spacious balcony. Very friendly staff. The breakfast was amazing, so many things to choose from, fresh and delicious! Really enjoyed starting our day every morning with a swim in the pool with the scenic mountainous landscape around the hotel area being the cherry on top. Looking forward to another stay at Hotel Salgart soon!
Compact apartment in a large block with everything you need for a short stay. Parking onsite, although you have to pay which is to be expected for a town location. Swimming pool to cool off and lovely gardens to sunbathe. Only 10 minutes walk into town through the riverside garden. The owners have been very thoughtful in equipping this small space.
Great location in the city center. Easy to reach restaurants and bars, stores and shopping area. Room is spacious, has a small fridge/coffee machine and plenty of space for suitcases/backpacks. A/C makes temperature very comfy, also in the middle of summer. Because of the pedestrian-only area, it is a very silent room.
This is a fabulous hotel! It's family owned & operated . The rooms are beautifully appointed with balconies, luxurious bathrooms, comfortable beds, & a really good breakfast. The heated pool was a plus with beautiful views of the countryside. A very attentive & accommodating staff. Our favorite hotel!
The apartment is very spacious, with all the necessary facilities and a great location in the city center.
All check-in information was very clear and helpful. The owners of the appartment offered us all the necesary attention.
We will gladly return to this location in Merano.
Amazing experience in this familly running hotel . Great location, tastefull breakfeast, very helpful and pleasant people. Room is enough spaced for a couple, enough equiped for few days stay. Parking is possible, walking distance to the spa and centre of the city.
An elegant historic hotel, attentive & friendly staff, clean & comfortable. Quiet though on a Main Street. We had a large room with a balcony. Generous buffet breakfast. Great location, close to everything including the train station. We would stay here again.
The property was easy to drive to, had secure underground parking and secure entry to the property. The apartment was large, well furnished and spotlessly clean. It was an easy walk to the old center, boutique shopping, restaurants and the river.
We loved the quiet location of the hotel. It was clean and the room was very spacious and comfortable with great views of the mountains.
The breakfast was exceptional, offerings wide range of breads, meats, eggs and fruit, also vegan options.
Perfect Place to stay in Meran - the best Hotel of our trip. Unbelievable friendly host going out of their way to take care of the guest's individual needs. Exceptional breakfast made with local food and love. I totally recommend this Hotel.
I loved the pool, both inside and outside, the one on top has a beautiful view over the city. It’s a 20-25 min walk to the center of Merano, beautiful area. Have dinner at the restaurant at the hotel, it’s very good!!!
They hotel is in a lovely location just outside Merano just a 10 minute walk into centre.staff were really nice and the hotel is really clean every where. Best hotel we stayed in on the hole trip .
The peaceful, traditional hotel atmosphere. Our large, stylish and comfortable room, with bath and shower. The spacious dining room and terrace. The very friendly service.
