FAQs about hotels in Verona

A Shakespearean Fairytale

A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalized in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.

Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.

Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheater which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theater whose remains are partly beneath a house.

The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which have cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laid back and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.

Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.

Nice compact city you can get around most sites in about 30 minutes walking from side to side. Bus tour was good, we used it to get to our property as well to drop off luggage. Could easily spend a few days to maximise the city, we only had a day because we were flying back to UK the following day. Airport very good, like a small provincial airport of the past in the UK. Will definitely visit Verona again. Arena great, Romeo and Juliet balcony. Nice market on the Saturday. We ate at Trattoria la Pigna (booked last minute through TheFork having found on Google) which was fantastic food and lovely helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Good price for a very good meal. we ate in the cellar part of the restaurant which was atmospheric. Would 100% eat there again.

We arrived by train from Venice (cudos to the italian trains for speed, low price and comfort) and the difference was evident: Venice is a fairy tale, every walk is an adventure, every corner a surprise. Verona is the city you want to live in! Amazing architecture for real houses, easy to move around, many places to visit, restaurants to explore, events to pareticipate, people to meet

It's so easy to get around - be sure to visit the Ampitheatre/Arena and the fenicular, take a ride on the little tour bus and take a trip to Lake Garda - you can get to Sirmione easily by bus or train. Emanuel Cafe near the Arena was great - particularly the friendly staff. A lovely city with lots going on!

This place is an actual gem. I ve travelled extensively and I have to say this is one of my favourites, the historic area is an ideal location, trains buses were all so easily accessible and the staff really friendly and helpful. I would 100% recommend a trip to Verona a great starting point for day trips to Venice, Lake Garda and the Dolomites. xx

Plenty to see and a very interesting old city.

Plenty to see and a very interesting old city. At times felt over crowded with large parties following a stick and blocking the way. There are a lot of places within easy reach by train to see while based in Verona.

Verona is beautiful with so many historical sites to visit. It is easy to get around on foot. We did a pasta making course, that was really fun to do. If time permits also visit Padua, that is gorgeous too.

Lovely room, modern and pristine clean, nice bathroom and all amenities were there that i needed. Easy walk less than 10 mins from/to the train station, great for my needs as touring italy by train. The walk into Verona Old City took me around 17 mins which was of no concern for me, also all flat so an easy walk.a great location if planning to use Verona as your base to visit Lake Garda and Venice as i did. If i return to Verona will certainly use this hotel again.

The Boutique Touring Hotel is recently extensively renovated and the rooms are very well equipped and in excellent condition. The room was surprisingly large and very comfortable with modern , stylish fit out. The windows are double glazed and the air conditioning was effective. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of choice. The hotel is located in the old part of Verona in a reasonably quiet area but a short walk to the busy shopping areas and the Piazza Bra.
