A lot of things, if you need them, they are in the shared space. A good way to save money and resources. That way you can get nice glasses and mugs, etc. You just wash them afterwards, as you would at home. So because things are shared, the quality is higher than the cheap and wasteful stuff all but the fanciest hotels will give you. Also the common area has a lot of good spaces to do work. You can even have meetings there.
