My wife and I only stayed one night before taking a flight. It is just a few minutes drive away from the airport. Machico offers a nice range of good food. We could have stayed a few days longer as well, if it wasn't for the flight.

29 Madeira Hostel set in the centre of Funchal, Madeira Island. The property offers budget accommodation in dormitories and private rooms. Everything was perfect for us in our stay in the hostel 29! We really enjoyed our time there! Was confortable, great location, very clean and quiet! I loved the kitchen! Good to have your own breakfast there! Key for your locker included! Also towel! Located within a traditional and historical building in Funchal old town, Santa Maria Hostel is a boutique hostel featuring a vintage-style décor. I had a nice stay at this hostel, which is very centrally located, in the street full of small restaurants, close to the market and shops, close to the main bus station (from where you go to all other parts of the island) and the town beach. Room was big enough with quite comfortable beds, clean, and the kitchen has everything you need.

We stayed in a private room and it was beautiful, clean and spacious and also, very quiet at night so we slept peacefully! Great, central location on a quiet street. Also the breakfast was incredible. The best we had in Madeira and one of the best we've had anywhere!! We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Madeira! The staff were super friendly and helpful too. Thanks Jaca Hostel team for taking such good care of us!
