The hidden little gem of Rarotonga, with the best hosts! Amazing breakfast provided and cosy private home at our disposal. A lot of space for car parking within the property, and farm very centrally located on the island, close to some of the nicest beaches on the island. Would recommend and stay here again next time I travel to the island! Don't hesitate - just go!

This stay wasn’t 10/10 it was 100/10! It started with our pick up at the airport which was arranged by them- taxidriver Max was great, gave us lots of tips and was very friendly! Than we just had a best time staying with Joe and Odette. Our little house was spotless clean, we had our own bedroom with very comfortable bed and fan, our little living room and kitchen with fridge and fully supplied kitchen and very clean bathroom with toilet and shower, lots of towels- face towels, shower towels and even beach towels. Great little terrace with chairs and table. Right next to the house there was a clothesline with lots of space. If you have a car you can park right next to the house. Joe and Odette are the sweetest hosts, they are so friendly and their house is open any time if you want to ask something or need help with something. When we didn’t have a car Odette took us to the town in the morning, other day she offered us drop off to the start of the island track- but it was bad weather so that didn’t happend. We had shared breakfast at their house on Thursday and Sunday which was great to meet other guests. The shared breakfast was absolutely amazing- everything you can think of was there- cheese, ham, little sausages, fruits, vegetables, fresh coconut, cereals..Other days Odette always brought us something in the morning- fresh croissants (never had better one that the one with almonds), bagels, eggs as we could make our own breakfast. They have bikes and even scooter which you can rent (for $15 per day!), I saw they have some snorkeling equipment and reef shoes as well. All property is very well maintained, safe and beautiful. It is 3 minutes walk to the closest shop and burger place which was very good! Close to the Muri beach, you can just catch the bus on the main road or even walk if you feel like it.

I loved staying at Joe and Odette’s place. You’re surrounded by greenery and can hear the ocean in the background, it’s a little slice of heaven. Wonderful communal breakfast a few times a week. Easy to get to beach, and a great burger spot and grocery store nearby. Highly recommend!

Nothing really. The shower was a little for two big island boys, but we compromised by using the outside showers.

Friendly hosts. We met other friendly guests from other countries. Good breakfast everyday. Clean facilities and convenient store just down the road. A 5-10 minute walk to Muri beach or a minute drive. Plenty of shops down the road.

Lovely, peaceful and private location close to everything. The grocery store is less than a five minute walk, the best swimming beach at Muri is a 2km walk or a very short bus trip. Odette is welcoming and very helpful and knowledgeable which was much appreciated.

We loved everything about Rarotonga. Due to some circumstances our hosts needed to arrange a different location for us, which we loved very much. It was right outside the ocean, had a lot of coconut palms and papaja trees. It was very well equipped, there was no neighbourhs nearby and was extremely peaceful. Our hosts were awesome. They were ready to assist us with literally anything we needed, and we felt that they care about us.

A beautiful, relaxing retreat in paradise

I can't think of anything they could improve. The whole experience was lovely. Maybe the tiny armies of ants in the cabins were the most annoying thing but there's not much you can do about them really. Just make sure you wash dishes immediately after meals and pop any food waste in the outside bins in the special recycling area provided under the cabin closest to the entrance. That way the ants won't be attracted in the first place.

I really enjoyed my stay here - it's great value. It's easy to get to by bus (there's a bus stop on the main road and you can walk), and there's a supermarket nearby where you can grab provisions for self-catering. Breakfast alternates between locally made doughnuts one day and a proper sit-down meal with all guests the next, which is a good chance to meet everyone and get info about what to see and do. Muri Beach, the best part of the Rarotonga coast, is only a short distance away and your hosts will happily rent you a bike/scooter if available. Of course you need to be comfortable around cats and chickens with the early morning cocks crowing. I love cats so being in this quiet, tropical location with cats (Lucky and Apricot among others) was heaven for me. If it rains while you are there, just take the time to relax and enjoy the deluge and watch the huge droplets hang off the tropical foliage. The hibiscus, frangipani and gardenia in the garden are gorgeous.

    All good.

1)The breakfast was awesome. Both the quality and quantity. 2)Friendly hosts with free use of the laundry. (part of the accommodation costs). 3) 2 extra adults were accommodated apart from the set number of people in the 2 bedroom unit.It was cost-effective and easy to stay together as a family. 4) The accommodation facilities were very clean and had all that were needed for. For instance, a BBQ set used for grilling. 5) The vicinity was near to a supermarket and an eatery hence quite accessible for a purchase. 6) On Christmas morning there was a Christmas package on the table outside which was a very kind gesture by the hosts, and much appreciated. 😀💟 🙏🩵💚❤️

Nothing. Be aware, you might get an early wake up call from the roosters but you’ll get that anywhere in Raro!

We love getting away from the big resorts and spending time local. This was the perfect opportunity to do just that. Enjoy the quiet, sit and watch the mountains while the goats and chickens do their thing. Not far from Muri beach and facilities. No, it’s not right on the beach, but you’re on an island so the beach isn’t far away! Breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed chatting with Odette and the other guests. Thanks Jo and Odette!

This location is very scenic, situated with the peaks of the mountains behind it. There are native fruit trees and guest are welcome to pick a vine ripe passion fruit. The hosts are warm and welcoming, Joe & Odette treat you like family. Farm fresh eggs for breakfast. The cabins are sweetly decorated and well equipped. We especially liked the handcrafted touches in the furnishings and building materials. We could tell that alot of heart and care was put into building these units. We like chickens, cats, and goats, so we felt at home here. Joe and Odette sent us off with a hug. That is what kind of lodging this is.

The roosters wake up really early! Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

Joe and Odette were amazing hosts. They sincerely care about their guests and do whatever they can to make sure that guests have an amazing experience. We arrived very late at night and easily found our accomodations. I was glad we had pre-booked a taxi with the help of our hosts. In the morning, we had an amazing breakfast prepared by Odette. After nearly 24 hours of travel (from the US), it took a day or two to get everything sorted and organized for our time in the Cook Islands. Joe and Odette's place was the perfect landing pad for us. My daughter loved waking up in the morning and going out to play with the chickens and cats. The house had everything we needed. The one we stayed in was well designed and well-stocked. I appreciated having the hotplate and ability to prepare a few meals. With the store close by, it was very convenient. We loved our stay and getting to know our hosts. They are truly wonderful and we appreciate all of the time we were able to spend with them.
