Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaAlthough the public spaces in the hotel are handsome, I was unimpressed with my room. It was certainly comfortable and quite spacious for a solo traveler, but the grey walls were drab and a bit gloomy in a room that received little natural light. I realized this color scheme is currently fashionable, but a room looking out on an airshaft would be more inviting and comfortable painted in warmer colors.
The location is wonderful, particularly for people who appreciate the architecture and atmosphere of Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The hotel’s access to public transportation is excellent, with buses practically at the front door and the subway just two short blocks away.

We paid the room with the view on the Broadway and it was as nice as expected: big and with four nice windows on the street.

United KingdomBreakfast was a let down. When booking breakfast to a hotel you expect a proper boufet, continental or similar. You do get "complimentary" 10$ vouchers/day/person to use in a cafe/bakery downstairs but you could only get a coffee and a croissant really. So not the best experience. I'm assuming it works well for both the hotel and the bakery but for the guests that expect a proper breakfast it really is a letdown.
Very clean hotel in a lovely building with an amazingly helpful staff that make you feel at home. Close to everything really, 3 min for a subway station, not even 10 min walk to Central Park, with lots of shops and places to eat around. Would absolutely recommend as it was great value for money.

United States of AmericaThe $10, per person, breakfast voucher at Mille-Feuille bakery, downstairs, was just a little short of what we needed for a substantial breakfast and coffee. But, it was still a decent value for an NYC breakfast and very good. The WiFi was very spotty. In and out quite often.
Beautiful building, great staff, clean, and the best location for us. Just a couple of blocks from two subway stations to get us anywhere we needed to go. The upper west side is the best location we’ve stayed in NYC!

United States of AmericaFor breakfast, perhaps have desk advise that arriving on the hour or half hour for breakfast is when lines are longest - showing up 5-10min earlier makes it much faster.
The bed and room were very comfortable. Loved the location and neighborhood! And it was delightful to have the French bakery as breakfast option.

United States of AmericaThe elevator is SO tiny. If you are claustrophobic I would definitely ask for a lower level so you can use the stairs. The Wifi was not working when we got back from our event and the desk clerk was short with me when I called to inquire. I ended up having to set up a hot spot on my phone. The TV user interface and selection feels like it’s from 1995.
Beautiful historic building with an art deco aesthetic. The lobby smells absolutely amazing but the woman at the desk didn’t know what the scent was. The room was pretty clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast voucher ($10 at the bakery in the building) lasts into the afternoon so that’s nice for late risers! The location was excellent.

United States of AmericaI would have liked a coffeemaker and a microwave inside my room. I had to wait in line at the bakery downstairs, when they were busy. But it wasn't a big deal.
I loved the location and the charm of the hotel! Central Park is within walking distance. The walk brought us through charming neighborhoods with beautiful architecture. There are also restaurants nearby. We walked to Bare Burger, Amsterdam Ale House, and the Gelato Factory. The hotel's restaurant and bakery are wonderful, and we appreciated the vouchers to those provided by the Hotel BelleClaire. I highly recommend The roasted chicken at Allure, and the chocolate croissant at charming French bakery downstairs. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a late flight, and they kept our luggage safe for us so we could enjoy some attractions on our last day after checkout. The bellman took care of getting us a taxi from the hotel to the airport, which was nice. I would definitely stay at Hotel BelleClaire again, and will recommend it to my friends and family!
