This charming family-run hotel has a great restaurant and a wonderful, peaceful location on Whitby’s West Cliff, near the seafront and within walking distance of the town centre.

Love Whitby. There is plenty to do, great eating out and it’s easy to walk anywhere if you are reasonably fit. The Abbey is stunning and the events/drama staged are amazing. Equally, there are superb places to visit like Robin Hood’s Bay, Saltburn and Sandsend close by. My very favourite English seaside town.
Favourite places to eat: Abbey Wharf and Cranberry Swamp (for breakfast)
We ate at Pescado Lounge on this trip: great food.

North Yorkshire Moors are absolutely stunning with lots of beautuful villages to visit. We particularly liked Goathland. Would recommend a visit to Robin Hood Bay Saltburn by the sea and Staithes

Very nice historic fishing village I would visit again.
Very nice historic fishing village I would visit again. Abby and Captain cook museum is worth a visit. I had mussels and fish and chips at Mister Fish and Chips and it was all very good. Whitby is quite hilly but easy to get around. A train trip on the Yorkshire Moors railway is a must. I wish I had stayed a bit longer than over night.

I would advise the Park and ride as Whitby is a nightmare to park. We parked at the P&R and got an all day family bus ticket for £5:20, for the length of time we were there i think it would have cost much more to park. Whitby is a great place but, shops seem to be closing down, not a lot but they are closing.
The Captain's Rest is a cosy pied à terre located in the heart of Whitby: a perfect location in terms of accessing the vibrant heart of Whitby. The accommodation is more than adequate like a hotel room (but much larger). It is very good value for money. The room has a fridge and kettle etc Wi-Fi and TV and excellent storage space plus a desk! The system for accessing the property was very good but took some "getting used to." There is a public car park literally 30 metres from the property which costs £9 for 24 hours.
The breakfast, the rooms , the cleanliness, the location just perfect, the hosts of the Storbeck are two of the nicest people we have ever met , the phrase above & beyond doesn't come close , We can't wait to go back .... The only problem....(I may not be able to get in if you read this ) if you visit Whitby & you want a quiet location within walking distance of the center to bars , restaurants & the harbor with hosts that can't do enough for you then this is your place , but pls leave some days for us To go back.
The room was spacious and comfy. Well provided for in terms of tea, coffee etc too. Exceedingly clean and well presented. The staff were amazing and had all the little extra touches to make things special. The hotel itself is really bright and airy, a nice place to be in. The food was very nice with a different menu each day, good choices for everyone and all of great taste and presentation. I stayed here for work and would definitely come back when I'm next in Whitby.
Staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Room was spacious and the location was fantastic - around a 10 minute walk into town, minutes from the beach, public parking opposite the hotel at £9 for 24 hours.
Whitby open air tour bus stopped outside (hop on/off service with history talks).
Restaurant/cafe easily accessible.
Rooms had gorgeous views.
Fan & hairdryer provided in room.
Fabulous hotel, very attentive staff, comfortable room. We were given a room upgrade on arrival as it was my husbands birthday. Breakfast was lovely and the spa facilities were great. Very relaxing and quiet hotel, couldn’t hear any noise from other guests. Location was nice and peaceful but within easy reach of Whitby and Sandsend.
The room had a very good view of the sea and well-placed chairs. The bed was comfortable. The man at reception was able to give us very helpful information about parking and the hotel also provided a limited number of spaces. The hotel is within walking distance of the centre of Whitby.
Probably the quirkiest location we’ve ever stayed in, absolutely fabulous. Even though you’re smack bang in the middle of the harbour it still felt really tranquil. From the outside it doesn’t look big, but the layout inside is well conceived and feels roomy. Just a lovely space.
This property offerred privacy and was better than most hotels or airbnbs that we have visited. It was decorated. It provided more than enough space due to having a living room and kitchenette and if I was going back to Whitby, I would not hesitate to return to the Loft.
Situated close enough to Whitby to be convenient yet also far enough away to get a break from the crowds is Whitby. Only one min away from station and only one stop from Whitby. Parking was on site and the hotel was quiet and well maintained.
The room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast well cooked and plentyful.
The hotel is in a difficult location for weekend parking but a good location to visit the town,
The food was excellent and well presented. The room was very spacious and clean. The hotel was right in the middle of Whitby and within easy walking distant of most places.
Staff was great and my room was clean happy with my stay love Whitby hotel is abit dated needs a good painting up when the season as ended but great views so I was happy
Spacious room, excellent shower, excellent breakfast, extremely clean, view of Whitby abbey from our room, beautifully decorated inside with a lot of tasty sea details
