The only reason we stayed in Chitose was to take the bus up to Lake Shikotsuko. We didn't do any hiking, so a half day was plenty for this part. There aren't many dining options in Chitose if you are on foot (we traveled by train), and very little in the way of other attractions in town. It seems to be mainly a convenient place to stay after you fly in from the nearby airport.ScottJapan - 6.0Scored 6.0

We had to travel to Chitose as we needed to fly out from New Chitose Airport. Nonetheless, we decided to stay here for 2 days to visit Lake Shikotsu & the airport for it offers many attractions. We really enjoyed the lake (very scenic!) and the airport - Royce Choc Factory, Doraemon Waku Waku Skypark etc. We got around Chitose in a rental car and the free shuttle the hotel provided. There were also plenty of souvenirs available at the airport for some last minute shopping.

Very close to airport, as well as several ski stations. it is cheaper than Sapporo city, and even if it does not have as many restaurants and places to visit as a big city may have, there are plenty of restaurants, parks and duty free malls and is very quiet place.ENEKOThailand

We arrived late and left early the next day but it was no problem for check in and check out. We really appreciated the onsen. There is a free shuttle to the airport (not the other way around) at 6.25, 7.05, 7.45, 8.25 and 9.05. You have to book the day before at the reception. We booked the 7.05 and went down for check out at 7.00, our driver was already waiting for us and took us to the airport in 10 min.
