The staff were very friendly and very helpful.
The breakfast was excellent. Everything kid of food was provided and the quality was very good.
Dinner was also good quality.
The room was clean, everything was working and you had all you needed.
There was plenty of parking and in proper spaces, not squashed.
The location was excellent, as right on the seafront with the small town behind.

The greeting at the door was exceptionally friendly and helpful with offers to park the car and carry our luggage. Reception was efficient and we were shown to our rooms - all that we experienced was excellent and sadly missing in so many hotels. The location on the sea front could not be bettered.
Sitting on the Regency seafront with wonderful sea views, The Belmont Hotel is one of Sidmouth's popular 4-star hotels. It is a short level walk from the town centre.

Very good indeed, super comfortable ground floor room, with view. Had breakfast and evening meal there, dining room is beautiful, tastefully arranged plants and flowers. View over a lovely garden and hills. Charming hosts, one of which is a talented chef. What lovely prepared and tasty food it was. We stayed 3 days and nowhere was too far away to drive to seaside. We took our little dog, large grounds to walk and she loved the space to run around away from the house. They have everything there, including a pool. Just perfect.

I would imagine Branscombe would once have been a pleasant little community but now it appears to be a lock up and leave village which is really sad. Like so many other small village dotted around the U.K. there seems to be no sense of community, probably bustling in summer months with holiday makers.
There is a lovely walk from the village down to the coast along the river side part way. There are footpaths but some are hidden. A quiet spot for an early spring break but watch the narrow windy single track roads and pray you don’t meet a lorry! There are great coastal paths here for walkers and it’s a nice spot for dog walks.
The rooms at the Mason’s inn are impressive and comfortable. The little kitchen area in ours lacked cutlery, wine glasses, tea towels and a kettle. It had two fridges though and a coffee machine where you could get hot water.
We really missed our cappuccino in the mornings for breakfast, the coffee provided at breakfast wasn’t great.
All in all Branscombe is a nice place for a short stay.

We stayed in Branscombe because it was close to the location we were visiting the next day. It was a lovely village and the beach was only half a mile away. We could've spent at least two or three days there at the hotel.

Comfortable large double bed and large room and bathroom.
Comfortable large double bed and large room and bathroom. But we gave manager a list of "niggles" (e.g. light in bathroom mirror not working) that were not put right during our stay. Decent food though sometimes overcooked. All staff very friendly and helpful including taking suitcases to our room - important when there are so many steps. Only outside space was immediately onto car park.= - no garden or lounge. Although we liked the hotel, overall we felt it was rather overpriced.

Beautiful village with lovely walks.
Beautiful village with lovely walks. We took the coastal path around the cliffs to Beer, which was challenging in parts, and the cliff top walk back. I’m so glad we did it that way round as the hill back down to Branscombe beach was so steep there was no way I’d have managed to climb it. We walked up the hill to The Fountain Head pub one evening and had a fabulous meal; would definitely recommend a visit as apart from the excellent food, the staff were great too.

Very pretty mostly unspoilt village with blacksmith and 10 minute walk or short drive to the beach. Not good for cars so ideal for walking and photo opportunities abound. Some interesting history around the older buildings
The pub is situated in a very picturesque village. We were greeted by a very friendly man called Jose. He explained to us that due to staff shortages, a cooked breakfast would not be availabe during our 3night stay.
Instead, we had a delicious breakfast with cereal, fresh fruit, croissants, toast and jam. All very substantial.
There is a beach at Branscombe …half a mile away and a beautiful coastal walk from the church in the village.
We also liked looking at the forge where the blacksmith makes lots of items.
We did a last minute short break as the weather was excellent, the roads to Branscombe are a challenge and buses and tractors add a lot of excitement. The Masons was superb the rooms are really well decorated and in excellent condition and very clean. The food was also superb we had the Sunday roast beef which packs the place out even in the evening. All the staff were very helpful and genuinely friendly.
Excellent food and amazing staff. Need to give big accolade to Finlay. Not just a great breakfast chef but came to my rescue when my car had a suspected puncture...a really decent kind chap who gave his help willingly without question.
Also Joeo for his fantastic cocktails and joyful presence. He brought cheer to a very wet week.
All of the staff are a delight...they are the best part of this hotel !
The B&B located in a scenic and beautiful village in Branscombe, East Devon. Just 10mins walk to the beach. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Both dinner and breakfast were great. All the staff were so attentive and welcoming. The room was spacious and got the tasteful decorations.
We couldn't have asked for a nicer stay in Branscombe; the place is in a really beautiful location. The room was extremely comfortable and very nicely decorated. Dinner at the restaurant was absolutely incredible - including the vegan options! The staff were incredibly delightful.
Lovely charming pub nestled in the valley of Branscombe village and ideal only short walk to the coast with some gorgeous coastal walks. Amazing evening food and breakfast in morning sunshine, but all round lovely treat for weekend getaway
The location - Branscombe - has been our favorite place to visit for over 25 years, and Smugglers Close was the icing on the cake with it far more than we expected as we had not stayed there previously.
Quaint in the beautiful village of Branscombe. Staff were welcoming and we were made to feel at home immediately. The room was exquisite and our evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Thank you
Lovely location off the beaten track. Hotel was quaint with good facilities. Staff were fantastic particularly Laura and Rachel. Great atmosphere in the bar and restaurant.
Just generally a great stay. Beautiful building, great staff, lovely food. We walked from here to Beer and back....to a well earned (and fabulous) dinner in the restaurant.
