Hotel Forum, hotel in Pompei

Opposite the entrance to the Pompeii excavations, this hotel is in the heart of the town, just a 5 minute walk from the main Piazza.

This is a gem, a respite from the bustling crowds ( of which we were a part of!) of history lovers that want to pay respects to the people and place of Pompeii. Their grounds and gardens are a beautiful match to all the lovely staff we met!

easy to get around pompeii. hotel close to ruins, cathedral and plenty of choice to eat. i would avoid the 3rd floor of the habitat hotel with the roof garden and bar as very noisy when an event is on, apartment 301 is the room i was in. was not told of the event even though it was for one night until midnight. there was no bed settee in the bedroom as advertised, but there was a bed settee in the living room, but not made up with sheets or duvet. overall we were pleased.

The ruins are incredible and vast.

The ruins are incredible and vast. There aren't many places to get food/toilet so plan for this accordingly. It was absolutely heaving when we went (a random week day in May) and this did impact the experience. There's a lovely place to get ice cream just a short walk from the entrance to the ruins and a really beautiful church down the road. We found the people to be somewhat surly (and that's with an Italian speaking member of our group).

Very good place to stay and get trips around - old Pompei town, Pompei main street, Vesuvius mountain, and other nearby places like - Naples, Sorrento and others which can be reached easily by the train. The town is very well maintained and it is very clean, bearing in mind the amount of tourists it gets.

Obviously the ruins (Scavi) are the main draw, but the town is very pretty. The Catholic Basilica does not have the size of the major basilicas in Rome, but it is just as beautiful. You do not have to stay here in order to see the ruins, but it does make it a less hectic experience. The ruins are free on the first Sunday of every month and on certain holidays. We went for free on Liberation Day (25 Apr).

Definitely a great place to stay to see the nearby...

Definitely a great place to stay to see the nearby attractions but, despite having three train stations, the transport links are not great. We were based here for a week and found the public transport frustrating. Last minute platform changes for trains only announced in Italian and giving insufficient time to change to the right platform. Buses leaving up to ten minutes early or not stopping. There is a Flixbus to Sorrento but it only gives three and a bit hours on a day trip from Pompei. To visit Capri we had to have a night in Sorrento which was an unexpected extra expense. On a final note if you eat gluten free the choice is fantastic. It is understood and catered for!

Pompeii is a lovely and cozy and absolutely beautiful town!

Pompeii is a lovely and cozy and absolutely beautiful town! As a solo female traveler I always felt very safe, and I was able to fully enjoy and explore both the city, and the sights like the ruins and mount vesuvius. Note that there aren’t any Ubers or any easy way to get a taxi if you’re staying a little outside the main city core (I stayed at a 30 minute walk away from the Main Street), but it’s very walkable and there’s pavement all around, and some busses if you can figure them out but I generally just walked everywhere :) There’s also areas for parking if you’re bringing/renting a car or even for campers and RV’s right next to the city centre (abt 3-5min walk from the Main Street). The Pompeii ruins are a must visit and I recommend going with a guide that’s also an archeologist, I found several tours including the one I took that also went to Herculaneum via GetYourGuide. There I also found the “tour” (just a shuttle bus really) that went to the highest entrance of Mount Vesuvius (leaving a 20min/1km hike to the top of the crater) which was also very cool and I definitely recommend going there too while you’re in Pompeii!

We had very warm welcoming, even when we were too late. The hosts are very pleasant and helpful people. The apartment looks better than the pictures in Booking, on a very quiet street, far from the tourist area. Everything was very comfortable-with all that one can need-for us it was 5 star experience. We are very grateful to our hosts and would like to return in Pompei. Just perfect location- nearby center, archeological park and train station. If you plan to stay in Pompei we highly recommend Domus 47 .

This is a little gem of a place run by the most excellent Teresa and her father. The room was exceptionally well appointed, comfortable, modern and well facilitied. It was the best standard of room I had while in Italy this time. I also had a view of Vesuvius from my window. Teresa is lovely, extremely helpful and knowledgeable (listen to her tips) about what to do and how to get around. Also about local restaurants etc. I really enjoyed staying in Pompeii and will definitely be back :)

Excellent place to stay if you want to visit the ruins of Pompeii, which is a 20 minute walk. The room we stayed in was large and comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating — we would single out Antonio, Nydia and Antonia for special mention. A lovely pool which was terrific for the hot weather. A restaurant and winery are part of the property — all fun. A 25-minute ride to Naples Capodichino Airport, so a great place to stay as a last stop before leaving Campania

The location was excellent for experiencing both the ruins of Pompeii and something of the local street life. My room, which they told me was the best in the hotel, was luxurious and huge. It was decorated in the style of a Pompeii villa, which seemed a little bit hokey at first but was more to my liking once I had actually seen the ruins. The view of Mount Vesuvius from the balcony was terrific, but the view of the ruins wasn’t as good as it was from the breakfast room upstairs.

What a good surprise. I'm in south Italy quite often for business and now i'll make this hotel as my preferred stop. Easy to reach by the highway, quite town, very safe and you can move to Napoli or Costiera by train. The hotel is with the higher international standard. The staff is very helpful and the know the area very well - follow their suggestions for excursion and restaurant. Cozy lobby and gardens where you can meet clients and work with your laptop.

Pompei Ruins de Charme is a fabulous property, but what makes it so special is the warm and friendly host, Dino. We had the Queen room with bath, and what a bath , it was huge! The bed was very comfortable and the property was extremely clean. Breakfast was fantastic with many choices and one of the best cappuccino we have had in Italy made by Dino. Wishing you all the best Dino for the birth of your son Giovanni. What a special day today will be.

We've gotten great support from personnel of Hotel Palma and we have to express our appritiate to Catello. We arrived to early because of our flight so it was possible to leave the lagguaage in hotel deposit and start sightsing in comfortable way. The hosts of this property are AMAZING! Please, if you are staying in Pompeii, I can't recommend this property enough. Amazing recommendation for dinner (one of our favorite meals in Italy) and for included breakfast at a shop on the corner. They were easy to contact when we had questions and during communication when we were set to arrive/depart. Absolutely beautiful location!

The location is great for reaching the Pompeii site, as well as the Pompeii train station (which would bring you easily to naples, villa poppea, as well as towards castellammare connecting to amalfi). The owner is very reactive on whatsapp, and ready to provide help. The hotel also provides a shared kitchen which can be pretty useful. Air conditioner is very effective.
