A lovely family run place set in a beautiful location. This is the only guest house in San Francisco, a quiet, pretty little village on the opposite side of the river to Tortuguero. Great room, good shower, very clean (and cleaned every day). Delicious breakfasts and dinner (available for good price). They organised a fantastic guide for us to take a kayaking trip around the national park. They also had a lot of excellent wildlife and bird guides available to look at. It was easy to pop across to Tortuguero either in the public boat or in a private taxi (not much more expensive and available anytime). This was a perfect location for us. It was quiet but you could walk into the village to see local life, have a meal or a drink, or climb the hill in the national park behind the village. Oh, and my son loved the table football and we all loved the hammocks! Would definitely return.

This hostel is probably one of the best i’ve been to so far: affordable for backpackers, right near where the boats arrive in Tortuguero, there’s a supermarket 2mins away. There are girls-only dorms, with AC and its own bathroom, a mosquito net on the windows, the lockers are huge (my whole bag could fit inside!), and towels are included. Cleaning service every day. Beds are confortable and the outside area is very cozy with a great restaurant in the hostel (with an amazing view on the sunset!). The owner was here to welcome the guests and she is very helpful with any questions you could have, she even has a magazine with all the activities you can do in Tortuguero.
