The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Had to check in early which wasn't a problem. The two staff were great - they speak English quite well, and were very patient with our very poor Japanese. Dinner + Breakfast is really good (but you do need to let them know you would like to have dinner when you are making your booking).

There is no Onsen・Bath in 渋温泉小石屋旅館, however, staying guests at 渋温泉小石屋旅館 can enjoy 9 public baths in Shibu onsen(free). There are 2 shower rooms in 渋温泉小石屋旅館. The staff were so nice. The free shuttle to the snow monkeys. Good coffee.

Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park is a 15-minute drive away. Great rooms, excellent food and service. Perfect location just around the corner of Snow Monkey Park. Free coffee at the lobby :-)

The spacious rooms at Fuki no Mori Hotel come with private bathrooms with free toiletries. All rooms have traditional decors, a seating area and a balcony with views. Most rooms have tatami (woven-straw) flooring with futon bedding. A beautiful luxury hotel set in forest outside Tsumago, with hotel shuttle bus access. Everything was perfect- from the warm welcome, being conducted to our room, shown the onsen and dining room, where breakfast and dinner were exceptional (in Keisei style and well worth the additional charge). It was a most relaxing stay after our Magome to Tsumago walk- 6 hours in drenching rain- but still very beautiful to be again on this marvellous walk.

Bright rooms come with a traditional decor of tatami (woven-straw) floor, a low table with seating cushions and traditional futon bedding. They are fitted with a seating area, an LCD TV and a fridge. A safe and yukata robes are provided. Everything was great, the service was very delicate, it made us feel very comfortable. This was a fabulous experience.

Guests sleep in Japanese-style rooms located in annex buildings. Fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and futon bedding, the rooms feature a flat-screen TV and a seating area with a low table. Bathroom is shared with other guests. Our short stay was absolutely delightful! The hosts were so kind and welcoming and the ryokan was beautiful inside and out. Our room was very comfortable and peaceful - the perfect place to relax after exploring Togakushi. We had both dinner and breakfast and would highly recommend - some of the most delicious and memorable food of our trip!

The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Each room comes with a TV, a fridge and an electric kettle with green tea bags. Japanese Yukata robes are provided and guests can enjoy views of the river or of the traditional stone-paved streets. Bathrooms and toilets are shared. He picked us up and dropped us off at the shuttle bus stop. He helped us order rental ski/snowboard equipment to the hotel. The hotel's own onsen was very clean and more comfortable than the town's free onsens.

A 5-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Tawaraya offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. Guests can relax in the indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths and wear colorful Japanese Yukata robes. Massages can be requested for an extra cost.

Tawaraya Ryokan is a 10-minute drive from Snow Monkey Park and a 15-minute walk from Heiwa Kannon. Shiga Kogen Ski Resort is a 30-minute drive away. The staff was outstanding. They were kind, helpful, and in every way what one can hope for at a Ryokan.
