Guesthouse SHIGI is located in Nakatsugawa, 46 km from Gero Station, 24 km from Ōi, as well as 24 km from Enakyo Wonderland. This place is AMAZING. I didnt know, but it is a traditional Japanese country house, more than 100 years old, tatami floors, futon bed, little gardin looking to the mountains. It was one of my best stays in my Japan trip so far. Also, Ashi (the host) is super nice, he even drived me to Magome the next day free of charge. Thank you, Ashi. I recommend very much.

Offering mountain views, Guesthouse Nedoko is an accommodation situated in Nakatsugawa, 21 km from Ōi and 21 km from Enakyo Wonderland. I stayed in the futon room with mountain views. Waking up early and watching the sun rise over Mount Ena was definitely a highlight of my trip.

Offering a garden and inner courtyard view, Guesthouse Gifu SUAI is situated in Gifu, 29 km from Nagoya Castle and 30 km from Nagoya Station. Lovely stay. Impeccably clean!! Very friendly and helpful hosts. Super cheap bike rental. Great breakfast deal with the cafe. We liked walking around that area, really friendly locals. We had a really great stay! Fyi if you want to watch the fishing with the birds, you can cycle to it quite easily. When facing up river, if you go to the right hand side and walk down the pebble beach to the shore, you get an amazing view!!

Offering a sun terrace and views of the garden, Tajimi Guest House is set in the middle of nature, 3 km from Tajimi Station. The property was beautiful and thoughtful. The mid-century furniture and beautiful ceramics on display made the accommodation feel very peaceful and homely. The doors opened up onto a peaceful garden with a creek running through it. Will definitely return next time we are in Japan. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly.

Located in 15-minute bus ride from JR Takayama Station, Guest House & Cafe SOY is surrounded by lush greenery. Free WIFi is provided and free private parking is available on site. Tai and family are the best hosts in Takayama and possibly the whole of Japan! You will not find another place like SOY with a comparable level of hospitality. Other than the complimentary shuttle to and from the train station, Tai and his family went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and we were well-taken care of. SOY was a quaint and charming guesthouse, with great views (especially in winter), and a ton of space for a large family - which we were. The entire place was very well furnished, and had amenities that were great for hanging out - like a movie room. Food at SOY is prepared with a lot of love and attention to detail, super tasty, and amazing. Tai would even help us call tour operators and restaurants to help us make reservations because some places only take reservations over phone and speak only Japanese.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. This has been my favorite place to stay in all of Japan. I absolutely loved the decor and the meal service. There are two private baths that you can use on a first-come, first-served basis and they were great. The hotel is extremely minimalist which goes with the theme of "letting the time pass by slowly". The dinner and breakfast are incredible and for only 7000 yen extra I would definitely recommend it to anyone staying here. They also have an extensive wine library and for a few thousand more yen you can include wine pairing with your meal. This was one of the best meals I've had in Japan, and I've dined at over a dozen Michelin-Starred places in Tokyo. It's also a brief drive over to Hida no Sato (Folk Village), and you can get a shuttle to take you there.

Just a 2-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and Takayama Nohi Bus Center, Guesthouse Tomaru offers an renovated 80-year old Japanese-style accommodation. Opposite train and bus terminal. Short walk to Family Mart and restaurants. All attractions within walking distance. The owner is friendly and helpful with various recommendations make my stay fun and efficient. I won’t reveal where or what cause I don’t want long queues and crowds to be there. Will definitely stay again. Thank you for making my visit to Takayama a wonderful trip :)

A 6-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station, 力車イン Rickshaw inn offers non-smoking Japanese rooms and Western rooms with free Wi-Fi, an LCD TV and a private bathroom. A free-use kitchen is on site. Anything, room were superb!! Location are great, hospitality amazing! Keep going!

Situated in Nakatsugawa and only 20 km from Ōi, 馬籠ふるさと学校 Magome Furusato Gakkou features accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. The host was super friendly and very helpful, even when we had some additional requests. Thanks so much for all the help! The rooms were veeery spacious (converted classrooms). The shared toilet & shower facilities were also very clean and nice—overall the building interior felt very new.
