Guesthouse SHIGI ligger i Nakatsugawa, 46 km från Gero Station, och erbjuder boende med en trädgård, gratis privat parkering och en gemensam lounge. The guesthouse gives a homely feeling, and we were warmly welcomed by the owner even if we arrived a bit late. It was the perfect stay as a base for the nakasendo trail. The house is completely renovated but you can feel how it was 110 years back when it was built. It has all the amenities you might need, and the spaces are huge! Great relaxing garden in the back :)

Tajimi Guest House ligger mitt i naturen, 3 km från tågstationen Tajimi. Här erbjuds en solterrass och utsikt över trädgården. It’s a quiet location, which is nice. First time in years that I have slept without earplugs. Good to know: you can not bathe at the guesthouse. I was a bit scared of using the Onsen at first, but ended up loving it. The hosts are such nice people. They made my stay even better, thank you so much.

Guest House & Cafe SOY ligger omgivet av lummig grönska, 15 minuters bussresa från JR Takayama Station. Både WiFi och gästparkering ingår utan extra kostnad. The home was beautiful, spacious and clean. The hospitality was unbelievable, lovely, attentive, kind- I can’t say enough good things about Tai, his mother and the inn. It is gorgeous, spacious yet cozy. It was a top experience and should not be missed. The inn is an hour walk from town and is best accessed by car but Tai will pick you up and drive you around. He took us to a neighborhood we were interested in for dinner and then picked us up immediately afterwards. Breakfast was delightful and they even made a special vegetarian dish for me. Bathrooms are shared yet private. The rooms are huge and so pretty! The traditional mattresses were cozy and comfy.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. Auberge Hidanomori is one of the gems of Takayama. It is a fantastic property, with beautiful rooms and 2 private onsens. Very friendly/helpful staff, and the meals were some of the best we had in Japan. Fantastic pairings!

A 6-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station, 力車イン Rickshaw inn offers non-smoking Japanese rooms and Western rooms with free Wi-Fi, an LCD TV and a private bathroom. A free-use kitchen is on site. The room was very big and comfortable. The location was perfect too, so close to the main sights Takayama has to offer. It was also very cool in the room, we didn't even need AC when it was still very hot outside.

The apartment was very clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. We stayed for one night during the Takayama festival as a couple but it can accommodate more guests. The open-air bath was fun and easy to use with privacy.
