On top of this, Kyoto is only half an hour away by train. We came for a nice, relaxing place to stay but got a family who was so warm and welcoming. Mizu, the hostess of Smile guesthouse is a very kind and helpful person who speaks good English. She helped and guided us to make our stay even better. The guest house is a traditional Japanese house. Beautiful and full of details. And next to that you can eat fresh strawberries at the Tanaberry farm, which is a 8 minutes walking distance. We can recommend everyone to stay here. As we immediately extended our stay the day we arrived and are planning to definitely stay again the next time we travel to Japan.

Excellent stay at this beautiful guest house during our cycle around Lake Biwa! It's an absolute gem of a place. The property itself is very well maintained, with traditional features throughout (such as the tatami room and the Kotatsu in the living room). The owners were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back! Highly recommended.

Jonni`s Place er staðsett í innan við 14 km fjarlægð frá Hiei-fjallinu og 14 km frá Enryaku-ji-hofinu. Boðið er upp á herbergi með loftkælingu og sameiginlegu baðherbergi í Sakamoto. Jonni was a very friendly and helpful host. He did his best to accommodate us and gave us recommendations. A very good host for foreign tourists and those who'd like to see Sakamoto and Kyoto. He also provided some bread/snacks every morning for breakfast. He had great recommendations for lunch! And if you have some downtime, Jonni is a very interesting person to talk to!
