Good place to stay if you are planning to do the Nakasendo hike. The host is super nice and very helpfull.

Guest House Hinode har bjergudsigt og tilbyder indkvartering med gratis cykler, have og fælles opholdsstue, ca. 2,6 km fra Takayama Station. Comfortable and quiet. The host was so polite and helpful. He recommended us some good restaurants and brote us to the bus station in the morning because the bus was not running due to Japan’ golden week! Great host!

The location might seem a little far from the train stations, but the host offered afternoon pick up and morning drop off services. (If you don't have a lot of luggage to carry, the walk is easy enough too.) I saw information that guests can rent a bicycle now too, although I didn't ask about that. The room and bathroom had everything I needed. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming (and spoke English too), and the facilities were clean and comfortable. As mentioned in the information, they do have pets, but don't let that scare you off if you aren't a pet person -- the animals didn't seem particularly interested in the guests anyway.

Itomori blev bygget i 2018 og ligger 7 minutters gang fra JR Takayama Station. Takayamas gamle bydel ligger 6 minutters gang derfra, og Takayama Jinya ligger 10 minutters gang derfra. We're having an amazing time at this place! The host is incredibly friendly and welcoming, always quick to answer our questions. The house is fully equipped with everything we need, making it both convenient to cook meals and close to some of our favorite destinations.
