We are vegetarians and he prepared meals just for us. He also organized day trips for everyone. Emilien also creates an environment where everyone talks and laughs together. Plus the location cant be beaten. Youre just minutes from the trou d'argente. It is really a special place.

Even more intriguing is what the accommodation will be like so far from the populated world. The pick-up from the little airport was faultless despite a common Air Mauritius delay and we were greeted at the Blue Room by John who showed us around and settled us in. The accommodation is simple and entirely unpretentious where everything works, including (now wait for it) wifi that yields, another ‘wait for it’, 320 Mbps! Plenty of water for the shower, hot and cold, with uninterrupted power supply. John can make available a car, a robust 4x4, at rates that, as I told him, are far below market rates. The Blue Room overlooks the somewhat distant Indian ocean that is a short drive away in Anse aux Anglais, down the hill. Restaurant-wise, there’s not a hell of a lot going on in Rodrigues but the local village down the hill offers some animation in the way of two okay eateries and a little grocery store. It’s pretty too. So, it’s a great place to stay (without AC but good fans) and highly recommended indeed. Bravo John!

Mr & Mrs Jameson were very warm and welcoming. The cottage is situated on the high where the view is spectacular over the ocean. The cleanliness was second to none. Owner was helpful and felt home. It was my first time at the Rodrigues and can strong recommend the Eagles Nest Cottage. It’s spacious and can easier accommodate a family of 5. The cottage has a kitchen facility where you can prepare a good feast if you don’t feel like going out.
