We absolutely loved our stay at their place and the walking tours of the island that Mario gave us each day. The meals they cooked us were so delicious that I had to ask for the soup recipe when we left. They happily answered all of our questions about the island and their culture. We even got to see Mario dance in the Fiesta de Santiago, which was incredible!

We took a local taxi to the port as there was no Uber and the boat ride which is amazing was about 20 min. For an additional cost we opted for an amazing dinner brought to our room. Our fav was the bed which was the comfiest in all of Peru with a king size mattress. Sunset views are spectacular and the serene calm of the lake was an experience. Situated in Huillanopampa in the Taquile Island region, Taquile Sumaq Wasi - Casa de Felipe e Ines features a garden. The property has lake views. I'm genuinely happy to have spent some time at Ines and Felipe's. Everyone is super kind and we had the luck of being there while the family cooked for other community members and hosted a session of Easter chants, to which we have been allowed to take part. On one of the Uros islands it was a very different experience, learning their customs is very interesting, our host Ronal and Roci were very kind to us and their rooms are basic and beautiful, we recommend bringing an extra jacket for the night because it is cold and They have enough blankets to keep you warm throughout the night 100% recommended
