Beautiful town, lots of places to eat and have a beer; know that the weather is extremely unpredictable and hardcore: we had insane winds when we there in beginning of April. We got lucky enough to see Mt Fitz Roy the first day we were there but every day after (3 days) it was covered in clouds, so take that into account for your trip!

Amazing place that can be the base for many adventures!
Amazing place that can be the base for many adventures! We planned our trip to Patagonia leaving more time for El Calafate, but we left thinking we would have preferred to switch this! In El Calafate, everything is much more tourist like and you need to pay for basically every tour you’re going to.
Chalten felt more chilled and like you can just leave the hostel and go do your own thing without necessarily paying for an agency to take you somewhere.
It’s a very charming little place with great food and local beers available, so very cosy and welcoming after a long day of hiking

We loved El Chalten!! The hiking is incredible!
We loved El Chalten!! The hiking is incredible! And the town is adorable. Love the little local food places. Since the weather is so variable it was nice to have an extra day in our schedule to wait for a clear day for hiking. We all filled it with horse back riding, climbing and birding so no one was bore.

Located under the towering peaks of Fitz Roy, this town is a special place from which to explore the Andes. There are walks to suit all levels of hikers and the landscape is just breathtaking! The people of el Chalten are especially kind and friendly also.
best place my son and I stayed in Argentina! wish we stayed longer. the owner and his family were most kind people we ever met. location was near bus station and the Main Street and supermarket. room was large with microwave, hot pot, sitting area for two. hot shower and nice bathroom. they called taxi for us so we could start the hike at 0700 from Pilar Hostel to cut some hills which was worth it! they provided an amazing breakfast for our hike even though they brought it 8 pm night before. we want to come back just for this hostel!
The location is very good. Staying in El Chaltén is expensive, so La Huella is a fordable option (room with private bathroom). It is not luxurious, but offers you all you need for a couple of months. Comfortable and clean room, warm water and fine heating in the room. Antonio, the owner is a lovely man always willing to help! It’s just 250 m away from the bus station.
The staff were incredibly helpful and one of the cleanest hostels I’ve stayed in. Rooms had lockers and there were plenty of showers and toilets so I never had to wait. Best location for hikes as well as you’re a 2 minute walk from the base. Charged in the official currency as well which makes it even cheaper than advertised in GBP.
The Hotel is really special and has direct views to the mount fitzroy (which is not possible from the rest of el chalten btw). The staff was very kind and helpful with excursions, recomendations, and the food service. The food was delicious, simple breakfast but 3 course dinner prepared by on site chef that vary every day.
Everything was 5-star hotel level. Ample, comfortable and clean rooms and private bathroom. Staff always available and very professional. Excellent breakfast and restaurant. Nothing is cheap in El Chalten and this hotel is not an exception, but it is worth it.
International tourists be AWARE !!! By the time you check in they Will charge you Double the value on your e-mail confirmation.
Dollar tarjeta is a benefit given by Argentina to International tourists that they want to keep for them.
Excellent lighting in entire room.
Was quiet room with window facing next hotel's masonry windowless four-story structure. Other persons in our trekking group stayed at two other hotels and complained of street noise during night.
Well located in El Chalten! Staff speak well english and provided insightful recommendations on restaurants and trails. Good shower and breakfast was also decent. Breakfast started at 6:30am which was perfect for early hiking
This was the best place that I stayed during my Hostel stays in Argentina. I liked a lot their staff which is very helpful and friendly. It made mine stay there more warmful and happiest.
