We were on a flying visit, but I know the village as I grew up nearby. Unless the weather is appalling, it us a great place to go. Lovely quaint village with lots of walks, caves, boat trips & eateries. Ideal for families and couples & those with wee dogs.

There were many interesting sets from The Quiet Man movie, as a well as a Quiet Man museum with costumes and props from the movie. There were coffee shops, restaurants and pubs, and a variety of clothing and souvenir shops. Getting around Cong was very easy. Parking in town was a little difficult, but there are two car parks, one just as you enter town and one near the church.

If at all possible --- go to Ireland's School of Falconry!!
If at all possible --- go to Ireland's School of Falconry!! Yvonne and Tommy were excellent! It was an experience of a lifetime. The grounds of Ashford Castle are gorgeous!! And it was a great surprise to see the lodge used for Danagher's house as we were walking through the gardens to the School of Falconry. The Monk's fishing cabin is cool.
Of course, The Quiet Man sites were fun. Aran Knitwear is a lovely store. I wish they'd have a few Clancy Brothers-type cables, but the modern, sleeker ones are pretty.
Pat Cohan's was delicious for dinner and had a luxury menu at good prices. Nice specialty cocktails, too.
We ate at Danagher's pub for lunch and the beef stew was huge and tasty (if a little salty). It reminded me of my uncle's rec room in the 60s.
The Irish History bookstore (Rare & Recent Books) was worth visiting. Extensive collection, modern titles, great old books, books in Irish, children's books, too. The prices were good.
Everyone we met in Cong was friendly and had good info!

We loved Cong.
We loved Cong. It was a beautiful town and area, with a gorgeous ruined abbey, forest walks, caves, an impressive manor house, quaint stores... The food was excellent at the Crow's Nest, and we LOVED the live music by Stephen and Trish. The salmon at Lydon's Lodge was incredible. The porridge at the Puddleducks Cafe, delicious. We HIGHLY recommend the Irish History Bookshop on Main Street. The owner, Robert, a historian himself, was able to provide us with so much information about the area's archaeological history that interested us. From Cong we explored the Nymphsfield Standing Stones (hard to find, but super-cool), the Ballymacgibbon Cairn, Moyne Castle, and Annaghkeen Castle. Cong is also the perfect base for day-trips to the Connemara Penninsula, and to the Aran Islands.
Spacious, clean, comfortable and with everything you need and many homely touches! The owner has thought of everything. Cong village is about a 35 minute walk that can take you via the beautiful Cong woods, across the river that has the monks fishing house (and abbey nearby) and with a view to Ashford castle. We found five great bars in the small and picturesque village, live music in one, so had a very enjoyable Saturday night. Blakehill house was absolutely perfect for our short break to enjoy beautiful Cong.
Stayed here for my second year in a row with some friends and just like last year everything exceeded our expectations. Rachel looked after us as always and put on an incredible home baked breakfast with everything you could imagine. The location is idyllic overlooking the river and only a few hundred metres into the quaint village of Cong, which has a great selection of local gastro pubs. Will be back again next year!
Location, service and value. Wonderful breakfast included. Best value on our whole trip from London to Edinburgh through to Dublin. Close to Ashford Castle to be able to explore the castle grounds and the Cong village. Can do the quiet man tours here as well.
Luskin's had all sorts of supplies to help with our self-catering. The house itself was roomy for the 5 of us, and it was really nice to have 2 separate bathrooms. Had it not been January, we would have enjoyed the very short walk into Cong!
well located in the village of Cong, close to the magnificent Ashford castle and gardens. simple and spacious good room, cleaning could be improved. good breakfast, staff typically friendly like all Irish-friendly people
The hosts were amazing and very kind. The breakfast was freshly prepared and we could select between several dishes. The village of Cong can be reached easily on foot. Al in all, I would recommand it to everybody!
Great location, lovely grounds to walk; also able to visit Ashford Castle Gardens which was a great bonus. Breakfast was delicious. Staff all very helpful & friendly. Did boat trip around Lough Corrib.
Great location, Cong is a beautiful town, staff at the hotel were lovely and helpful, breakfast was amazing, tasty and hot, could have stayed there just for the food. Right in the centre of the town.

The location was central to Cong, but off the main streets. The breakfast was the best we've had on our visit to Ireland. The entire place was immaculate. Mary was a very gracious host.
Not to much to like it’s very basic 1 star the pictures on Booking.com make it look good but the location to Cong was perfect and the amazing Ashford Castle is next door
