Karuizawa offers an amazing small town charm with excellent food, friendly people, and accessible nature. Definitely check out the Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel tour to view Musasabi! The only downside to this beautiful town is that it's a bit more pricey than the rest of Japan.

We would definitely go back.
We would definitely go back. Just around an hour by Shinkansen from Tokyo, Karuizawa is the perfect place if you want the laid-back, nature-embraced, old-town feel. Just strolling around town is cool enough but they have a lot of museums and galleries too, that the whole family enjoyed! Also got to try skiing for the first time. Overall, this is one place that we will always be included if we go in the Tokyo area again in the future.

A wonderful destination if you like fresh mountain air, lovely tree-lined roads, cycling, etc. Many useful bus routes and also Shinano Railway next to the Shinkansen that goes to Naka-Karuizawa and way beyond. Note that many restaurants close early, especially out of season. Many well-known restaurants need a booking.

Should spend more days in Karuizawa town.
Should spend more days in Karuizawa town. There is a Skiing sport just beside the Prince town outlets and worth for beginner to try and have fun. Walking distance to the old town bring different experiences and its very nice to try walk around and try the foods there. Its worth to go for a relax place. If more days , can travel down to the other town in Karuizawa for skiing and sight seeing. Awesome place to explore.

A European town in a forested mountainous region not far from Kusatsu, Shima onsen, or Tokyo.
The hot springs aren’t anything special but the mountainous scenery and delicious French/Italian food can be a nice change from the usual Tokyo bustle.
Autumn colours are nice, especially just north towards mount Asama.

Nice “garden” style hotel. Old but has been refreshed.
Nice “garden” style hotel. Old but has been refreshed. Like the “Club” room with free drinks (not beer) and games. Large rooms. Breakfast not buffet but “set,” and good enough. Not easy to spot entrance off the main road.

3. You can fully be immersed in the Karuizawa forests
4. Welcome drink was awesome. The grape juice was marvelous

+ The interior of the room looked new.
+ Bed was very comfy.
+ Quadruple room had a sitting area with zabutons (Japanese seat cushions).
+ Shower was strong.
+ Liked the mosaic tiles at the sink area.
+ Wifi worked fine.
+ Staff were friendly.
I had such a warm welcome from Chris who was extremely helpful in planning my stay in Karuizawa. He cooked me a terrific breakfast and then offered a ride to help reduce the number of kms on my walk the next morning. Such a beautiful location and quite a charming setting - a highlight for me!
Clean and spacious. Free parking. Great location, very near to the Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza. Good value for money especially for a weekend stay in Karuizama. A small corner with microwave provided and we could comfortably have our breakfast (bought from nearby convenience store) here.
The hotel is in close proximity to the Karuizawa Prince Shopping Centre and the JR Karuizawa Station so getting around was a breeze, especially with the free shuttle service. The room is spacious and the bathroom is very well equipped with all necessary toiletries.
Loocation: is perfect, we had a car, it was easy to reach.
Food: we had breakfast in the hotel, the food was delicious and had variety.
Room: very spacious with view of Mt Asama and overlooking beautiful hotel grounds.
The hotel has an onsen ( public bath).
The host was tremendously friendly and generous, and the breakfast was quite delicious as well! Plus, it has kashikiri onsen, and that’s pretty suitable for couples or families. If I will go to Karuizawa again, I will definitely staying here.
Well furnished room, very comfortable and clean, all toiletries and slippers provided, coffee and tea with kettle available in room. Comfortable bed and pillows. Access to hot spring - able to walk from hotel room to Onsen.
Complimentary light breakfast, coffee and a shared lounge where you can heat up your food.
Within waliking distance to the train station and Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza.Plus Lawson is just behind the hotel.
The architecture of the hotel is beautiful. The interior decoration is mainly made of wood and designed in a Western style. The overall feeling is just like its name, elegant and noble.
We really enjoyed their private onsen.
The lobby was warm and cosy with a fire place.
The rooms were clean and spacious. The outside of the hotel looks cute and nice for photos.
A traditional Ryokan with nice Japanese decors&ambience , easy walking to shops & restaurants in Ginza-Karuizawa.
The rooms(3) are clean & cozy.
Very helpful and kind staffers .
Perfect location for walking to Old Karuizawa and the shopping mall. Nice communal bath and shower. Comfortable tatami room. Quiet. Clothes washer and dryer available.
Short walk from the JR station and main bus terminal. Hotel is new with modern facilities. Room size spacious by Japanese standard. Bathroom is spacious too.
The breakfast buffet was excellent, the Onsen spa was spotless and rejuvenating, but most of all the hotel staff led by Ryu were outstanding in all aspects.
