Nico is the most warm and supporting host that one can wish for in an unfamiliar country and town. Gorgeous breakfast, most comfortable and clean room and bathroom. He arranged for rental bikes, did our laundry, answered our numerous questions, advised on a biking trip, shared maps, and eventually got us on the right bus to continue our trip.
Beautifully situated on the edge of town, surrounded by water and fields, this luxury hotel offers exclusive suites and the perfect opportunity to relax.

Very nice hotel close to the city centre of Roermond. The hotel used to be the local prison, which was rebuild into a hotel. They did a very nice job in respecting the old building. The rooms are build in and divided over multiple "old" cells. Clean and large rooms with a good bed, bathroom and work area. Friendly staff.
The restaurant is supposed to be very good but it was completely booked for the evening. Bar is good and a nice outside sitting area. Did not use the breakfast. Parking next to the hotel.

Lovely area, but loud church bells (and often) and, my friend and I were yelled at by locals because we took pictures of their garden (because they have beautiful gardens there and she was testing out her new camera). A couple came out and TOOK OUR PICTURES, like as if we were criminals (two women just taking a walk on vacation, staying at a B&B around the corner), and this couple didn’t want to believe us. We have no idea what they were thinking we were doing, but we offered to show them our pictures to show them they were just of their garden, but they did not accept that. They told us to go away, so we did, but we’re very disappointed at how unfriendly, accusing, aggressive and paranoid they were. Very NOT welcoming to visitors, which is very unlike the Dutch to be. When we told him we were vacationing there, he literally said, “Why?!”, then, “I don’t believe you. They have nice flowers where you live too, so go take pictures there and leave!”
So, we don’t need to visit there again, but if you do, be careful taking pictures of their pretty gardens! And the Castle ruins and surrounding nature are a must see!
Very nice country house-like hotel. Feels like the “grandpa and grandma’s country house”. Very cozy and friendly, quiet, relaxing. Good food at breakfast, free wine and bear in the evening.
