Staff extremely kind and helpful, very pleasant.
Location beautiful, right on the shore, but a bit away from Madalena, definitively need a rental car if you stay here.

Almost everything were perfect. The location couldn’t be better. It’s just in the city center, a few minutes walk fron the ferry, the restaurants and the supermarket. Our host, Débora was super kind. She really wanted to know, if she can help us in anything. Also, we were invited to a welcome drink at the restaurant in ground floor, and we also got a coupon for free desserts there. Unlimited local tea (and coffee) was also available inside the building. The apartment was super clean, and well equipped. It’s price is also great compared to the prices on the island. The bed was comfortable, the AC worked.

Inès and Hugo welcomed us with exceptional hospitality. They paid exemplary attention to our needs through both their actions and the quality of their presence. We are grateful for the wonderful moments shared. As a conscious, smiling, and caring couple, we wish you many fantastic experiences ahead. The owners of Alma do Pico are fortunate to have you, not only when they are present, but especially in their absence. You care for the place as if it were your own, showing remarkable commitment. Thank you for making our stay on Pico unforgettable. Happy New Year 2024!
Surrounded by lush greenery, epicenter PICO is located in Azores’ Pico Island. The house has scenic views over the lush green areas and also over neighbouring Faial Island.

The entire experience from the first to the last minute was absolutely incredible. The house is beautiful and with a super cosy decor. Not to mention the huge garden that brings us peace and takes us into the middle of nature (you can even relax in a hammock!!). During our stay, we had a 30th anniversary and the accommodation offered us a (huge) cake and sparkling wine. All these treats make a difference and raise our expectations compared to other places.
Carolina (Reservation Manager) is lovely, super available and made us "feel at home"

I had not been back to Pico Island since 1998 during the year of the earthquake in the Azores. Since that time the Azores has certainly become quite different but in a positive way. This is a small quaint village that offers you all of the modern comforts to explore the beauty that is The Azores. Despite the modern amenities it still keeps it's old world charm. Lest we forget, the wine and the food. Magnificent!

Good place to stay when traveling to Pico Island - relatively close to the airport, has all the necessary facilities (taxi, banks, supermarkets, restaurants), and there are also year-round ferries to go to neighboring islands from there.

Central to everything that is required.
Central to everything that is required. We rented a car and drove by the whole island. (110 km.). We stopped in a few villages for a coffee, or beer, or just to drive through. Madalena is definitely our favorite.

Madalena is a nice small town suitable to serve as a "base" for exploring Pico and Faial islands. The ferry port is in the city so it is easy to commute and includes several rental cars companies as well as tour guides for climbing mount Pico.
The nearby natural pools has served us to refresh after a day long trail.
We recommend checking out the local wine museum where you can find the oldest dragon tree as well as trekking in the wine trail that starts just near Madalena.
In the town we enjoyed eating at the Mercado Bio restaurant that serves a nice variety of dishes suitable for all taste and preferences.

Small town with a few restaurants and church.
Small town with a few restaurants and church. There are some nice fish restaurants. Wine museum is worth a visit.
There are a few whale watching, snorkelling, and diving companies, also companies that can arrange land tours and trekking. It is close to the Pico mountain. The problem I had was, it was off season and the tour companies did not seem very interested to arrange activities for tourists. You really have to make an effort yourself to find and arrange any activity. My initial intention was to do some scuba diving with sharks or snorkelling with dolphins. But due to weather conditions (however I have to say that on at least 3 days I was there the weather was very calm, but perhaps there was a bit of surge) and lack of engagement of tour operators it was not possible. I only was able to go on a single whale watching trip (where we did see a couple of whales).
The best part of my holiday was when I rented a car and drove around the island myself. The island (Pico) is very lush and green, very scenic.

This must have been quite the hotel in its day but is quite dated now. Some of the staff were helpful while some were not helpful at all. We were here in the off season so maybe that had to do with it.
The apartment / house was quite comfortable and very clean - and with AC! The location was a quick walk to the main downtown area of Madalena, easy walk to lots of fine restaurants. There was also a pastry place right next door to grab coffee and breakfast. The Madalena ferry terminal is about a 5 to 10 minute walk away. Parking on the street in front of the house was no issue. Highly recommended! Note that about 7 or 8 steps were needed to access the house, in case stairs are a challenge.
Excellent location, in the center of Madalena. Close to the ferry port and just next to a supermarket. Nice, large and clean room and balcony with a beautiful view. Daily room clean up. Very friendly and helpful staff. And excellent breakfast is included. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed it very much. We would of course stay again and do recommend it.
We chose this hotel in the heart of Madalena just because we had no car for our first day in Pico. The hotel location is excellent, right next to the ferry terminal. The other characteristics are very correct: big room, comfortable bad, nice bathroom, tasty breakfast.
We were very pleased to find a basket with fruits in our room!
The view from the front door was an impressive view of Pico mountain. The location was great. It was close to swimming and the town of Madalena, and quiet. Lots of good restaurants and easy to get around. Shopping for groceries was convenient, as was using this location as a starting point to visit Pico.
Really great little place at a great, central location in Madalena. We stayed in the topmost suite; amazing attention to detail in terms of the decor, nice views out of the window. Debra (the manager) was super helpful as well. Cinco was a great restaurant below, as a bonus.
Hosts were extremely friendly and offered services. Essentials to get us by were in the apartment. The location was perfect. We were right downtown in Madalena, 5 minute walking distance to port and close to many restaurants. O Cinco was one of our favourites.
The house has a very rustical feeling, quiete and remote place. It was lovely to stay here. From one side you have the view on Pico (if there are no clouds) from other you see the ocean and Horta. Some 20mins of walk to Madalena centrum and ferries.
The hotel is new with a good bed and bathroom. it is one of the few places on the island with a bathtub. The breakfast is also very good. The staff is attentive and the hotel makes some small actions to surprise clients positively.
Brand new structure, large and equipped rooms, strategic location 15 minutes walk from the center and the port of Madalena. The reception ladies very nice and helpful. We couldn't find any flaws!
A nice, clean, good looking, well organised and equipped place in the centre of Madalena for shorter stays. Big bed and a relatively big bathroom. Close to the most important parts of the city.
The hotel was beautiful and in a great location. The views were amazing. The breakfast was excellent, and I liked that we could eat outside on the deck. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Proximity to the airport, to the ferry, to Madalena and to the supermarket.
Very friendly and helpful hosts, both before the travel and during the stay.
