I attended a conference at the AICC and for convenience I ate my dinner at the Mount Meru Hotel. I enjoyed the safari to Tarangire Park and had a lovely goat and lamb BBQ at the local Kwa Mrombo (a street full of BBQ goat meat in Arusha).

Arusha is not a pleasant place, on the very dirty crowded streets there is non stop people grabbing and talking to you all wanting money, we had one person tell us about his mother in the hospital and wanted us to pay her bills. Arusha is a means to a safari and that is it.

Arusha is a busy city.
Arusha is a busy city.
I have visited old German Boma which was converted into Natural History Museum.
Seen also Arusha Declaration Monument and Clocktower which they claim it’s located in the middle of Africa or let say in the middle between Cairo and Cape Town.
They have some supermarkets like Shoppers Supermarket or AIM Mall on the way to Arusha Airport.
East African Community HQ and Heritage Museum.

A typical African city, colorful with open local markets and malls, safe to walk around and very friendly people. Ideal location to start your safari because most safari organisers start safaris from there. I’ll definitely visit Arusha again.

Great city to stay in.
Great city to stay in. Definitely the safari hub; at least four major safari destinations (Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater) within a day's drive. Lots of great (if sometimes challenging) hiking to be done in the foothills of Mount Meru and the Kilimanjaro (or climb the mountains if you feel like it).
Easy access through Arusha (domestic) or Kilimanjaro (international) airports. Taxis are cheap, but make sure you agree on a price beforehand,

Good variety of shops and interesting cultural and heritage centre. Convenient place for starting point for safari. Views of mountains/hills at times. Climate not too hot. Maasai market interesting.
The nice little hotel on the suburbs of Arusha in very quiet area. The owner Jeff offers his guests the great hospitality and care through all your stay in Tanzania. The accomodation is quite basic, but clean and nice. You have quite good Wifi connection and hot water. Breakfasts are amazing and very tasty. You have also available hot drinks and fruits all day long. Jeff can help you to organize all additional trips gives a guide for day tour to Arusha center. Highly recommend the place!! Thanks
This place is exceptional!! It is simply an oasis of calm and greenery, with amazing views from the rooftop of the main house. The room is huge, the shower was the best we had in Tanzania (we stayed in 5 different locations) with super pressure and hot water. The food was homemade and soooo tasty!! The hosts, Francesca and her husband, were super helpful and staff very friendly. The whole experience was simply amazing! If we are ever in Arusha again, this will be our must stay place!
Unbeatable price and high room quality. Very in private. Feel like a home. After a long flight before and after Safari, this hotel is really good.I saw some monkeys on the roof of the next property :-) . Outside the room has a big space for sitting and relai. To reach and explore the Arusha city by taxi or local bus Daladala ( if you need new experience, bring a person from Bird of paradise with you). Internet access is free. Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful
My home away from home 💗
They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early at like 10 am. We got to Utulivu Hostel super early and I didn’t wanna wait. So this was a big plus. The service was exceptional as well.
The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this Utulivu Hostel to anyone visiting Arusha, Tanzania
Great hotel, well-located, 20 minutes from Arusha Airport. The rooms are spacious, well-equipped, clean, and beautifully decorated. The staff is responsive and very friendly. The Manager Prince and his team (Venant, Sharon, Lucy, etc.) will ensure you have an exceptional stay in Arusha. The Sanna café right below the hotel is excellen ! You can book with confidence. I highly recommend this hotel.
THE PLACE TO BE !
A beautiful hostel that allows you to enjoy the tranquility of nature! Great service and an ideal location to enjoy all that Arusha has to offer. Multiple tour offerings that allow you to enjoy the area. The local diner is delicious and healthy, we never have tasted food before like this, Anthony and his sisters are amazing and they're there to help you for anything, we really recommend this place
Comparing to other Hotels in Arusha, the Bright Star Hotel is very cheap. The toons have their own toilet and shower. The breakfast is very good and included in the price.. The staff is very helpful and can do anything for you. They can arrange cheap taxis for local prices.. Arusha can be very expensive, but if you go the Bright Star Hotel, then you have made the right decision.
This hotel / B&B is so lovely. Perfectly located just out of Arusha town and on the road toward Namanga.
We stayed here after 7 weeks camping / road tripping through South-East Africa and it was a highlight. The rooms were so clean, cozy and the showers were excellent.
Lovely staff and a great breakfast.
We would stay here again and again when visiting Arusha. :)
It is an old but charming Colonial-style hotel, well maintained. The room needs to be updated a little. We can not even find the plug near the bed for iPhone. However, the buffet dinner was beyond expectation, and the hotel looked warm and cozy. We walked outside for a while; although there was no pavement, we still loved the local vibe.
Very very nice place to stay. Little bit out of town but with bolt or one of the bodas you’ll be fine. They have a good tour operator with fair prices. They wil help you with everything especially Nam she’s the best. She helped me so much with getting my bag back from Naribi. “Budget” hostel probably one of the best in Arusha
I like to think of this place as a bed and breakfast or boutique hotel. It is a small cute hotel located off a dirt road about 15 - 20mins from Arusha Airport. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was cheap and nice. Location was in the middle of town with so many businesses nearby.
The house is well kept the compound the choma grill the kitchen the living room the bedrooms are awesome. We enjoyed the sunset from the balcony and the skies. Its a walking distance from Arusha town center
Very new, Super clean and comfortable.
The owners, a young and energetic Tanzanian couple have created a lovely peaceful setting. Great if you need a rest between safari travel and visiting the Arusha area.
Situated in a good area of Arusha. Very sweet and friendly staff, they prepared a welcome surprise for us, as this was part of our honeymoon. Late check-in was no problem. Nice bar area, good beds.
The apartment is great. Loved staying there. I visited a lot of hotels and places in Arusha, because I stayed there for 3 months, and Kibo is very good value for the money.
