An exceptionally cozy place in downtown Bejing. Hidden at the end of a small street / hutong, it is quiet, tranquil and welcoming. The rooms are arranged around a central couryard. Everything is nice and tidy, this really feels like a homestay rather than an impersonal hotel. The manager speaks the best English I got to hear in China in my few weeks there, knows everything about Beijing and can arrange anything you'd need. The location perfect, within walking distance from the main Beijing tourist attractions. There are two things to take note of: - The location on Google Maps is incorrect. Booking.com and openstreemaps have the correct location. - The wooden walls open to the courtyard and there is not much noise protection between the public space and your room. I would not go there with a toddler, and you should also stay quiet at late hours in the courtyard itself.

Great location to walk to temple of heaven and forbidden city, lots of restaurants around but quiet at night as located in side alley

The room and everything are great and what I expected for a decent hotel – roomy, clean, friendly staff, ect. What really standout is the location. It's at the very heart of the "Old Beijing." It's very close to many historical attractions, restaurants, and the authentic Beijing-only stuff. I grow up in Beijing and then migrated to the U.S. (Therefore you should give my grade of the location some credits.) I can't think of a better place to stay when I go back and visit.

Grand Mercure Beijing Central is located in the heart of the city, adjacent to Financial Street business district. Great location and very friendly and helpful staff.

The classic Chinese red colour and quadruple courtyard decorate Beijing 161 Beihai Courtyard Hotel, a spot located only a 6-minute walk from Ping'anli Subway Station (Line 4 & Line 6). Very cute courtyard and places to sit outside to enjoy coffee. The room was very clean. The shower was spacious. There was space to hang/place your clothes/ bags/ belongings. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were very kind.
