The traditional The George Hotel, stands in the very centre of the bustling market town of Penrith on the edge of the Lake District and the North Pennines. A beautiful old hotel. We had a 4 poster, very spacious, queen room. It was close to Penrith castle ruins, on street coffee and bakery and good restaurants. Parking is a bit of an issue, but the hotel has a good solution to assist with parking dilemas.

Boasting an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, and modern rooms, the 4-star luxury North Lakes Hotel and Spa, is located just off the M6 motorway. great facilities and great staff, the breakfast is outstanding and we really enjoyed the evening we ate there.

The Roundthorn Country House and luxury self-catering Mews Apartments are set in landscaped gardens, with panoramic views of the Eden Valley and Lakeland Fells. First class hotel. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful, comfortable room and excellent food. We were driving south from Scotland to Liverpool to join a cruise ship, unfortunately due to bad weather conditions our itinerary was changed and we elected not to sail. I rang the hotel on our way back north and were delighted that they were able to give us the same room. Would definitely stay at Roundthorn again.
