Located within 600 metres of Matsumoto Station and 3.9 km of The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, Onyado Nono Matsumoto Natural Hot Spring provides rooms in Matsumoto. One of the best hotels that I’ve stayed in Japan. It’s a traditional Japanese style hotel with no shoes policy, which makes the experience even better. Super clean and spacious rooms. Amazing onsen and free soba after 9.30 PM.

Located in Shiojiri, 34 km from Takato Joshi Park, BYAKU Narai provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. Let’s get some of the important stuff out of the way first - rooms were clean, spacious, staff were friendly, and the check-in process was easy. The room also comes with a heated tub which you can add your complimentary herbal salts. And the onsen was very enjoyable (albeit a few degrees too hot for me). But the star of the show was the dinner, which was outstanding. The chef takes you on journey around Japan with a focus on Narai and the surrounding regions. The menu apparently had inputs from the head chef of Den. The sake that the brewery produces is exceptional. Breakfast the next day was also fantastic and very filling (traditional Japanese breakfast but elevated). If you factor in the quality and caliber of the meals (dinner, breakfast) along with the amenities (onsen, free fruit drinks, water, cold tea), it’s great value. Highly recommended especially if you’re traveling with a significant other. The property also has a sake bar (although my wife and I didn’t try it).

Location is superb, a ski in /out hut. Beautiful dining room with great breakfast. Room is super comfortable and cozy. Looking at the slope directly. Free shuttle service can be reserved.

Located just a 5-minute walk from Happo One Ski Resort, Hakuba Alpine Hotel features simple rooms and outdoor hot spring baths. It is just a 5-minute drive from JR Hakuba Train Station. The room is spacious and has wonderful views. Gorgeous breakfast and dinner, like we are eating at fine dining every meal. 3mins to ski shop and 4 mins to bus terminal, 5mins to Lawson. The hotel has the place to store our ski boots and boards. And of course, they have wonderful onsen, indoor and outdoor! I got there with the Tokyo airport shuttle bus, door to door, completely hassle free!
