Great studio room with plenty of space. Nice bath and shower, comfortable bed. Didn't use the cooking facilities. Everything was spotlessly clean. The staff were very helpful, assisting me with a few problems that I had during my stay and were very pleasant to deal with.

Refre Hotel has a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere!! They served a delicious and healthy breakfasts and even served made to order omelets. We enjoyed the onsen, and were very close to the ski rental shop just a few minutes walk away. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The owners couldn’t have been more welcoming!!

Everything was perfect. Hotel looks very modern is about 5-8 min walk to station. Close to many restaurants. Onsen is very good above expectation. I especially appreciated the soap and shampoo having mint perfume making you feeling cooler which is good in hot summer! Really good hotel I recommend even the downside here below

All Toyoko Inn are similar, I guess. They are good for a short stay and that's it. This one in particular is located right next to the train station (a Shinkansen stop), so I guess it's a good alternative as a temporary stop when going to Kanazawa or Niigata, although I wouldn't recommend it. The TV has some interactive information, including some local information and videos (at least in Japanese). You can leave your bags in the reception after checking out if you need to.

I loved the staff they were so kind even with the language barrier we did just fine communicating. The breakfast that was offered was simple but enough. The smoothies they serve are so delicious. I have stayed at the Comfort Hotel chain before. This is an older property but they are all basically the same so you know what you are getting and its pretty standard: Laundry. Breakfast. NO smoking property. However given my comments below I selected another hotel when I returned to Niigata.
