An excellent base if you wish to explore Nemrut Mountain, Bitlis, Adilcevaz and Ahlat. Tatvan itself is basically a functional town but beautifully located by Lake Van. There is a promenade along the lake from ones ide of the town to the other...ideal for a stroll as the sun is going down!

To be honest Tatvan town itself is nothing to write home...
To be honest Tatvan town itself is nothing to write home about. But its location on Lake Van is superb. The graves and kumbets of Ahlat were fascinating. But for us the highlight was the literally breathtaking view as we crested the rim of Nemrut Dagi's crater driving in from the Ahlat side of the mountain. Absolutely stunning.
