Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaSince the place IS smack in the middle of downtown, the area is surrounded by all sorts of... characters. There is an adult shop on the ground floor but it isn't too much of a trouble for us but might be of concern for some people. Some rooms are right next to the road, so the windows don't guarantee they will block the noise from outside (especially with the food hall across the street blasting music all day long). Some loud grunts can be heard through the walls but could be drowned out by the TV. Also, my spouse is pretty tall and had to fold his legs a bit to fit.
The good: The included breakfast was actually sufficient. They offer a variety of cereals, toast spreads, beverage options, and fruits to choose from. It was enough to give us the energy to visit and climb Mount Royal and walk back downtown for lunch. The room was clean and decent, with cable TV and free wifi. There were enough towels, travel-sized shampoo, body gel, facial tissue, and toilet paper. There's no AC but the thermostat is adjusted to a decent temperature. The lobby has a water dispenser, so if you intend to walk a lot, you can refill your bottle there before leaving. Also, the location is close to Chinatown, a block from Complexe Desjardins, a sneeze away from the Pool Room if you want cheap snacks, and right across a food hub. You're not gonna run out of places to eat around from.

ColombiaThe smell in my room. It smell like cigarettes. Also, the bathroom was dirty. And the breakfast was very poor, it was just bread, cereal and coffee.
The location was great! Very central. Right in downtown. You can walk to all the popular places. And also close to the metro and buses.

United StatesThe receptionist on arrival-19 March. He didn't mind my check in much, he was talking on the phone and was impolite. Poor breakfast- add some veggies, yoghurts, eggs and sweets. Lack of interests of cleaning service. Lack of lift - very inconvenient to carry heavy luggage upstairs. The funniest thing - Before arrival I sent some questions to the hotel and received the answers when returned home! What a timing!
The location. The machine for hot and cold water.

United StatesThe air-conditioner in the room is quite noisy.
The location of the hotel is very good. You can walk around and find many restaurants and bars. It is also very close to all the tourist attractions in downtown. The apartment seems not that clean but the price is cheap so I do not complain too much about that. Overall, it is a good choice for young students travelers.

CanadaThe sofa "bed" is the most uncomfortable thing I have ever seen and it definitely cannot be slept on. It's an old pullout with the thinnest possible cover and you literally feel the springs in your back. We shared a bed, but if there was a third person, they wouldn't have a place to sleep.
Excellent location and friendly staff, good breakfast. Overall good value for money

VietnamThe room I booked was advertized as soundproofed, but it wasn't. You didn't hear too much street noise, but it sounded like the neighbours were in our room! Light sleepers should bring earplugs. The bathroom door (suite with private bathroom) didn't close, so you had to hold it shut with your foot, and the room was not as clean as I'd expect from a hotel — there was a big pile of hair under the bed and a few other small things. In general, the bed and bathroom felt clean.
The location was fantastic and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast, while simple, was a nice bonus to have within the building, and the lobby was comfy as well. For the price, it was as expected and comfortable enough for a quick trip spent mostly out and about to explore the city.

SwitzerlandThe breakfast was very minimalistic (apple, cornflakes, toast) We felt a bit "watched" from other guests. Got bothered once from a guy in the building that asked for drugs. The shower head in one of the showers is terrible.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The location is amazing. Room has everything you need. Good orange juice at the breakfast. Free water. Very good heating system.

CanadaA few things I think could be improved: 1) I was able to get an iron, but no ironing board, which would help to be able to press clothes properly. 2) The window facing the east side (which had the air conditioner in it) faces the terrasse of the hotel I believe - and it had a bright white light shining through the slit in the blinds. Would be great for that to be able to be covered up more effectively. 3) I didn't have much time to have breakfast (my own responsibility of course) but it would have been great to have something easy to grab and go, like a muffin. I did grab an apple, though. And, most importantly for me, 4) there was a very strong scent of fragrance in the hall to my room, and also in my bathroom.. the kind that smells like cheap cleaning products or urinal pucks or something, I'm not sure what it was. I found it quite off-putting for my senses, and is the factor that would keep me from coming back.
The staff was great - especially the woman who checked me in - she was also there the evening after I checked out when I went to retrieve my baggage. Very friendly, wonderful service. The place was clean, the bed was OK (not great, not terrible) and overall a good stay.
