Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeMy only issue would be the fact that the onsen hours are fairly limited. During peak hours, such as in the evenings, there may be a wait to use the onsen. At the same time, I stayed in a room with 3 beds. The room size was ok, but with the furnishings like the tables, chairs and dehumifier, it did feel slightly claustrophobic, given that we had 3 luggages in the room. The room size is probably more suited for just 2 beds.
1. Convenient (just about 2 minutes walk from Sannomiya station) 2. Hotel design and furnishing are fairly elegant 3. Each floor has an added layer of security, entering from the elevators. 4. Onsen is fairly large, and has both hot and cold pools, which I haven't seen in many hotels in Japan which I've stayed at before. 5. Amenities like toothpaste/toothbrushes, and water dispenser, provided together with the onsen.

IndonesiaHowever, the hotel does have a somewhat dark ambiance, which might not appeal to everyone. But, it's important to note that this is part of the boutique hotel's design aesthetic, aiming to create a specific mood and experience. While this can be seen as a minor drawback, it also adds to the hotel's unique character. Overall, Hotel Monterey Kobe offers a blend of strategic location and distinctive style, making it a noteworthy option for travelers seeking convenience paired with a touch of uniqueness.
My stay at Hotel Monterey Kobe was marked by its incredibly convenient location. Situated near Sannomiya Station, the hotel offers easy access to numerous destinations via bus or train, which greatly facilitated my travel around the city. The area surrounding the hotel is vibrant and full of amenities, including a variety of food stalls, renowned Kobe beef restaurants, and minimarts. This proximity to local dining and shopping options enhances the overall appeal of staying at Hotel Monterey Kobe.

ThailandCannot under any circumstances check-in before 12 noon (1200 yen per hour to check in between 12 noon and 3 pm). Other than that, no issues, would happily stay here again :)
Breakfast was quite varied and tasty. Beds were soft but very comfortable. Staff were great. The on-site restaurant (Italian) was very tasty (but not cheap). Was able to drop-off & store bags when we turned up in the morning without a fuss (and were brought up to the room for us upon checking in.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was a decent size for Japan. The hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful. The offering at breakfast was the best we had, lots of both Japanese and Western options. It is in a pretty good location and walking distance to a lot of the "must see" places in Kobe. There are a also a lot of shops and restaurants close by.

AustraliaWe really liked everything.
The location was an easy walk to two train lines and very central for restaurants and bars. The breakfast was also really good value and one of the best ones we had in Japan.

United KingdomThe rooms are very spacious! To be in the very city centre of a big and busy city I was definitely surprised! We enjoyed our stay, The staff was really kind and helpful. Rooms were impeccably clean and got everything you needed. Comfortable beds and quiet space, also if it's really close to the night life in Kobe.

United KingdomAmazing location, right in the heart of Sannomiya. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars on the doorstep and the hotel was around the corner from one of Kobe's famous shrine complex's. Coffee was available for free downstairs. The room was huge and so were the beds, so plenty of room for two people.
