How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Good location. Has restaurants and supermarket nearby. Easy check-in and out. Has kitchens including bread toaster microwave oven and coffee maker. Some tea bags and coffee capsules also provided.

Beautiful little apartment in Poveiros plaza. It was quiet and the bed was comfortable. I really appreciated the coffee and tea in the morning. Will definitely stay here again if I return.

The wodden support under the bed is cheap quality and keeps slipping down during the night causing uneven matresses and extreme back pain

Pillows! This is often the case in rental properties and not a deal breaker.
Brilliant location, not touristy. Choice of good bars and reasonably priced eateries very close by. Easy walk to metro, rail, and main attractions of Porto.

Great apartment in an excellent location within Porto. Apartment clean and had everything we needed. Superb communication with Hugo the host. Could walk to most sites within Porto, and easy access to transit. So many good eateries and grocery stores and excellent patisseries close by. Will recommend to others.

No complaints, but I imagine having a room with a park view would be pleasant.
There was everything I needed. The host was responsive and helpful. The 'starter consumables' (e.g. coffee, butter, jam, wine) made me feel welcome. The rules were simple and brief and there was no fuss.

Walls are thin, you can hear footsteps and conversations if you are a light sleeper
Very well facilitated, the facilities were all available, from kitchen gadgets, utensils and all, the bed was very comfortable and a couch was also provided. The location was very good as well.

Great location to explore beautiful Porto. The room was large, quiet and well set up. I had everything I needed and had a great trip to Porto.

Perfect location, short walk from Bolhau station. Very quiet area, opposite of the park. As windows face to the garden then there is silence day and night. Peaceful neighbours as well. An apartment was nice and clean, kitchen very well equipped, bed was comfortable and WiFi good. Easy to check in and out with code. Host very kind and responsive. I was very satisfied.

Lovely and well-equipped apartment. Excellent location. Great restaurants and grocery store nearby. We stayed for a week and were sad to leave.

Secure place, unusual layout, but fully functional and clean. Neighborhood initially felt a bit dicey, but it's actually totally fine, and quiet. Easy to get everywhere and food very closeby. Shower was great. It's a double bed.

Had back apartment which had window views to backs of all other buildings which weren’t very nice.
Great location in close walking distance to historical town center. Neighborhood street full of family owned restaurants that were all good local eats and fair value. Tried different restaurant each evening and would have returned to all of them. Mini market also close by. Efficient small kitchen. Good hot water supply. Walk up to second floor.

With three adults it was a wee bit small. The bed slats moved and made the mattress dip. It was easily remedied but ongoing the slats need to be secured

You should not come by car.
Very good location. Convenient to check-in. Relatives of the owners live on the floor below, you can ask anything. Very near to the city center. There are many cafes and restaurants around. There is a good big supermarket nearby.

The vie out our windows was not very nice.
Looked somewhat different than the picture. It was clean and comfortable. There were plenty of outlets to recharge our items. The staff was wonderful!

The noise carries in this place a lot. The upstairs neighbors woke me up a number of times and people coming in and out of their places was noticeable due to window above the door with the lights or just how noisy the stairs were.
Very good location, did not even need to use public transportation our entire stay because it was 2-3 blocks from the main part of Porto. Good restaurants nearby. Easy check-in.
