Aberdaron Look out for the sea coming into view as you descend into this lovely village fringed by its sandy beach, shop and hotel. There are 2 excellent hotels restaurants at Ty Newydd and The Ship, stylish fish and chip restaurant Sblash plus the oldest hostelry Y Gegin Fawr (The Big Kitchen) an ancient Medieval building which was used by pilgrims for sustenance before their sea crossing to Bardsey Island. A sense of history pervades this ancient village. Learn more in the National Trust visitors centre, Porth y Swnt in the car park. In good weather take a boat trip to Bardsey as this is a bird watchers paradise. Uwchmynydd (NT) a hillside just above the village is a heather-covered upland from which to see the island and back along the peninsula to Snowdonia with its mighty mountains. Beaches Not only is there the beach at Aberdaron but nearby is the lovely bay of Whistling Sands where the sands really do whistle children will be delighted to find! Morfa Nefyn Travel along the northern arm of the peninsula to the twin villages of Morfa Nefyn and Nefyn both with wide sweeping sandy bays, colourful beach huts in Nefyn and Porthdinllaen Harbour (National Trust) a short walk across the sands from Morfa Nefyn where stands the famous Ty Coch pub voted the 3rd most popular beach bar in the World! Plas Yn Rhiw (National Trust) The National Trust is a major landowner hereabouts and one of its oldest properties is this sweet little Georgian manor house, surrounded by box hedges and a variety of interesting shrubs and woodlands to explore. Enjoy a hot chocolate in their cafe and have time to absorb the stunning views of the dramatic bay of Hell's Mouth and many bays beyond. On clear days Stumble Head can be seen faintly in the distance.
