great place to stay - only 5mins away from the park entrance

you have to be aware, there is no Wlan or aircon (there will be fans in the rooms) but this is a cute homestay and not a huge hotel.

We can recommend this place, the family is very kind and welcoming, the food is delicous and food portions were big, the homestay is very clean and has a good shower and the park entrance is less than a 5min walk away.

We loved our stay at AA Homestay! Albert, Irene and Mary are very welcoming and we felt very much at home. The rooms are comfortable and perfect for those heading into Mulu national park, as it's only 5 mins walk. The airport is also very close. Irene and Mary are great chefs, and we stayed for dinner both nights we were there. Definitely recommend!

    Nil.

Very friendly family, walking distance from the airport and near to mulu national park - i went back to nap before walking back for the second part of the day activities, drinking bottles are available for purchase, breakfast, lunch (on request) and dinner are available. Hot water is available too. Their fried rice is just amazing!! No aircon, but a working fan. It does get cooling at night (personally for me), no TV, limited internet connection, no water heater (not complaining as a cooling shower is great after a hot day in the park). Bring your books, download movies if you need, or simply chit chat with others if they're around! Do get comfortable with the geckos though!

No airconditioning in the room, but we were aware of that when we booked.. There was a fan.

Fine room. 3 minutes walking to the park entrance. Really friendly people, especially the owner. We forgot our mobile phone when we were on our way to the airport. The owner brought the phone for us.

AA Homestay was the best homestay I’ve ever been. The owners are very kind and excellent chefs, their fried rice, pumpkin curry and vege jungle fern were the best I’ve ever eaten. They are the most welcoming hosts I’ve ever met in Malaysia. Staying in their homestay was the highlight of the Gunung Mulu National Park.

Fantastic homestay. Rooms are basic, but very functional and exceptionally clean. You can buy water for cheaper than the park, as well as breakfasts, lunches or dinner. Owner is very friendly. If we're back in Mulu, we'll be here.

The staff here so friendly & responsible especially when we have problem booking. Besides, the fried rice so nice and each room even has one private toilet. Most important is the location here super close to the mulu park.

Nothing I didn’t like, just things you should know about: You will get really sweaty at times and I’d recommend you book your flights back from mulu in advance, since there’s no WiFi and your mobile connection most likely won’t cut it (at least it disint for us) or you bring enough cash to buy your ticket at the airport since they don’t accept card payment

Clean rooms, a really lovely team, awesome food for a reasonable price and the perfect location (you can walk 10 min to the airport and maybe 5 to the park entrance) make for a great time in Mulu.

Very simple rooms, no air conditioning, which can be bothersome in the heat here, but the place is atmospheric and located right at the entrance to the park, which is very convenient. And this house is run by a nice lady who will certainly provide all the necessary tips.

Location is great - only 5 minutes walk to the park and a RM5 ride to/from the airport, which is also close by. The facilities are basic - there is a fan in each room, good water pressure and clean sheets. There is no hot water but after a humid and sweaty day of activities, a cold shower does feel good! Albert and his daughter Mary are wonderful hosts and keep their property neat and spotlessly clean. Mary does the cooking and there is a menu to select from. I love her fried noodles and jungle ferns. Ask if ferns are available - Albert picks them fresh from the forest. Prices are also way cheaper than the Park Cafe. Tips. In the early morning and also at sunset hours, stand at the road just outside of the homestay and look towards the Park. You'll see the mountains/hills wrapped in clouds in the morning or in shades of orange/gold during sunset hours. Of course weather permitting.

Incredible location, 5 minutes drive / 10 minute walk from the airport, and only 400m from the entrance to Park HQ. The most amazing family run this homestay with pride. Very friendly, and incredible food (and 8rm for a cold beer vs 18rm in the park) Quiet and comfortable. 24 hour electricity is the norm based on past comments.

No complaints. It is high value accommodation, but don't expect luxury.

Lovely homestay in close proximity to the park HQ. We loved our 3-day stay at AA Homestay. It was clean and quiet, and the food was delicious and affordable. We loved being able to walk 5 minutes to the Park for our daily adventures, compared to the Marriott folks having to wait on shuttles. We had a quiet day at the homestay and was comfortable reading, relaxing, and watching the cats and chickens outside. The hosts were kind and very helpful.

To me it was NOT a problem, so it did not affect my vote, but there is no hot water. Of course, given Borneo climate, it's not cold either. ;)

Albert is a great host! He loves to welcome people inside his house, and he's always available and kind to everyone. His two daughters take good care of the whole place, and they cook delicious meals! It's possible to have breakfast and dinner in the common area, and they are also available for lunch, if they are told in advance. They can also supply water and snacks at small prices, so you do not have to waste more time looking for them in minimarts or at the park (honestly I do not even know if there are other places to buy these things nearby... getting them just outside our room was soooo easy!). Location is perfect, really close to Mulu Park Entrance, so you can go and come back whenever you desire. Room and bathroom are really basic, but they actually have all the necessary for a pleasant stay: there is no A/C but there is a more than valid fan! If you are looking for a simple, authentic stay in Mulu, this is the place to be!!!
